Log-In Georgia
The tranformative state program - Log-In Georgia
Log-In Georgia a project carried out within the scope of Georgia’s transformative state program on Broadband Infrastructure Development designed to eliminate digital gap across the country by building a unified, neutral fiber-optic infrastructure that brings high-speed internet access to Georgia’s rural settlements. Implemented by Open Net with the support of World Bank and EIB the project addresses critical infrastructure gaps that have constrained economic development and equitable access to digital services in underserved communities.
The project’s primary objective is to increase access to broadband internet and to promote its use by individuals and enterprises in selected rural settlements. This objective is fully aligned with Georgia’s priorities to increase competition in telecommunications market, attract investment to rural regions, and build digital skills and demand across the country.
Log-In Georgia targets approximately 700 rural settlements identified as white zones, with the population exceeding 200 inhabitants and not having possibility to access to middle-mile connectivity high speed Internet from private service providers.
Log-In Georgia consists of two main components:
Component 1: Increasing Access to Broadband which addresses the infrastructure gap and creates legal and regulatory conditions necessary for digital connectivity. This component supports the Open Net Program to design and construct an open-access, wholesale broadband network, including high-capacity fiber-optic infrastructure that connects selected rural settlements.
Component 2: Digital Inclusion which supports use of broadband services and removes barriers to digital participation through targeted interventions. Activities include awareness campaigns and training programs.
Log In Georgia directly supports Georgia’s long-term development objectives. The project recognizes that broadband access is a prerequisite for economic development, enables participation in the digital economy, and supports delivery of essential public and private services. By extending digital infrastructure to rural areas the project creates conditions for sustainable, inclusive economic growth across all regions of Georgia.
