“Open Net plays an important role in the ongoing process of reducing digital inequality and enhancing fiber-optic infrastructure development. Between the years 2020-2023,we have successfully constructed over 800 kilometers of optical highway. When considering both completed and ongoing tenders, the total length now exceeds an impressive 2,100 kilometers.

In addition to the established infrastructure, there is noteworthy growth in the utilization of our network by private telecom operators. And I would like to point out once again that the state's chosen model, not to compete with private operators but to support their business development, was and is very important,” said Mariam Sulaberidze, Director of Open Net, during her speech at the 9th Georgian Internet Governance Forum GeoIGF 2023.

Mariam Sulaberidze also addressed the projects planned for 2024-2025, the importance of the infrastructure-sharing law, and answered the questions asked by the audience.
