\u201cDuring the current challenges, it has become even more vital, to have public institutions and enterprises in regions of Georgia, given access to high quality, affordable broadband internet and opportunity to use digital services.\u00a0 Current virtual forum underlines once more, how important is the digital transformation of the regions\u201d \u2013 this statement was made by the director of \u201cOpen Net\u201d Mariam Sulaberidze, during the 2020 Georgian Internet Governance forum, which was held virtually.<\/p>\n
Mariam Sulaberidze discussed the current status of the State Program for Internetisation and stated that civil works in the pilot region are continuing without any delays.<\/p>\n
\u201cTogether with the World Bank, we are actively working on the project \u201cLog In Georgia\u201d, which will give access to high quality internet to 500,000 inhabitants of the regions.\u00a0 As for the programs pilot region, the network creating is going according to the plan and without interruptions.\u00a0 By todays data, 60 km of fiber-optic infrastructure has been constructed\u201d \u2013 Mariam Sulaberidze stated.<\/p>\n
During the different themed discussions, representatives of the Public, Business and Non-Governmental sectors discussed various problems in the Georgian Internet field.\u00a0 Discussions touched following topics: Human rights in the digital world, children\u2019s codex and internet, Georgian information security ecosystems and existing challenges, cyber-readiness of users and Georgia, Covid-19 and challenges of E-learning and much more.<\/p>\n
